Obverse – Iconic design of Lady Liberty by Adolph A. Weinman. Who is also accredited with the design of the 1907 American Institute of Architects Medal. As well as the 1916 Mercury Dime. Inscriptions include: “LIBERTY”, ‘IN GOD WE TRUST’, and “2018”
Reverse – From 1986 – 2021 the design on the reverse side of the American Silver Eagle portrays U.S. Mint Chief Engraver, John Mercanti’s portrayal of a heraldic eagle grasping an olive branch and arrows. Inscribed with “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”, “1 OZ. FINE SILVER”, “ONE DOLLAR”, “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, and some even include a Mint Mark.
“S” for San Francisco. “P” for Philadelphia. “W” for West Point.

Official Silver Coin of the United States
The Liberty Coin Act of 1985 made the American Silver Eagle the official silver coin of the United States.
By November of 1986 bullion and proof versions alike were available for sale directly from the United States Mint.
The American Silver Eagle Coins have a face value of $1 (USD). Which is backed by the federal government.
Since 1986 they have been issued with the date marks on the obverse side of the coin. Consisting of 1 Troy oz. of Silver at a .999 Silver purity. However, this year, 2021, marks the year for changes! Later this year, the reverse will receive a makeover. Until then, the 35-year design remains.
